This weekend I had the chance to go to Night it Up! For those of you who may not know what that is, it's pretty much a big giant outdoor asian version of ribfest(ie. outdoor festival with games/entertainment/FOOD/etc.)!
I had never been before and wasn't really sure if I wanted to go when Jayson brought it up(we literally just got home from the cottage an hour before). Luckily my sister, her boyfriend and my niece both wanted to go and ended up dragging Jayson and I along. I'm so glad we ended up going; so many delicious things to eat, we had to walk around like 3 times before deciding on what things we'd get.
Being half Chinese, I've tried/or atleast seen a tooooooon of weird foods; chicken feet(refused to eat this), tripe, chinese mushrooms(ugh), pig blood nastiness(sorry if anyone likes any of these things, I just can't stomach it) and squid tentacles... which are actually surprisingly amaazingly delicious(one of my dimsum faves actually)! I've gotten pretty use to all the oddities while dining with my family. Yet, somehow I have never encountered "smelly tofu".... you have no idea how unprepared I was for that. I retched when that stench wafted towards my nose. Think of literally the nastiest smells(garbage, stanky feet, just gross things) all combined in one. I feel sick thinking about it yuck, somehow though it ended up being one of the most popular items this year.
I'd definitely go to Night it Up again although, next time around I'll try to go when it first opens up(tons of booths were closed since we went the last night).
What are your thoughts on Asian food?~*~Or better yet, what's the weirdest food you've tried??
Takoyaki was soooooo gooood!
Crispy beef roll!
Taiwich Sandwich + free green tea icecream ^__^
Squid tentacles!!! Surprisingly it was just tooooo messy for me to enjoy(the tentacle was literally smacking me in the face hahah), had to pass it on to Markus!
Enjoying that tentacle doe
Fried noodle bun might have been my favourite, it was sooooo goood gonna attempt at creating my own.
My tiramisu imparfait was probably the best thing I had, it was just delicious! I also love how they handcrafted every part of it!♥ Sarah and my little firefighter!♥
