Food| Sala Thai in Langham Place

Sala Thai Langham Place Mong Kok Hong Kong The weather has been really rainy and murky this past week, which has resulted in tiresome trips outside (aka my dad refusing to leave the apartment). Today was different, I'm assuming he realized we can't stay holed up in the apartment any longer. We ventured to Mong Kok once the rain stopped this morning. As soon as we arrived it started pouring so, we quickly ran into Langham Place, a giant mall with one of my new fave stores, Monki (I wish they'd come to Canada *insert praying hands emoji*). After spending a decent amount of time browsing and shopping, we decided to get something to eat.

We all agreed on getting some Thai food and ended up at Sala Thai on the 8th floor of Langham Place. Two things I really loved about this place were 1. the menus (I loved the cute newspaper menus)!!! and 2. the mason jars all the drinks came in!  I love Thai food and I've eaten at quite a few different Thai restaurants back home, I have never encountered these delicious drinks we tried; Roselle Flower Drink, Lemongrass Honey Ginger Tea, Lychee, and Tea (although it didn't look or taste like any tea we've encountered). We all we're craving noodles and decided to get a few appetizers to split amongst us. Everything came pretty quickly and overall it was really good! It ended up being about $75 Canadian and we got 4 appetizers, 4 drinks, and 4 noodles, pretty decent if you ask me! Overall, I'd definitely come back and grab some noodles!

Happy Pride Weekend!!!

Happy Pride Weekend!!!! I was beyond thrilled to wake up yesterday morning and hear the fantastic news!!! I was also super excited to head downtown to watch the Trans March! Jayson and I went and grabbed some Banh Mi for lunch then realized my camera completely malfunctioned (it wouldn't even turn on). Luckily, we live in the age of pretty decent iphone cameras so I thought I'd still shoot some fun photos! While waiting around for Erica we ran into some friends who are actually a part of some of the organizations! I just felt so happy and positive yesterday! ~*~Perfect vibez~*~

I also met the cutest pug ever!!! He was seriously a little King! I also wore my fun butterfly outfit which you might remember from here. I just changed my shoes (since I knew I'd be walking) to some brogues and wore a multicolored chain. I loved all the gorgeous pride inspired outfits yesterday!
After the march we went and grabbed some delicious pizza! ^___^

Food| Fabbrica by Mark McEwan

fabbrica lemon ricotta pancakes For those of you who may not know, I'm a hardcore foodie.
I love food, I love trying new foods/restaurants and I'm pretty much always down to eat.
Thus, I thought why not share some of my faves! I'm pretty lucky to have a serious foodie family, meaning I get to eat at all these amazing restaurants various family members take me too! The best part is they all have extremely different tastes!

That's why when my auntie Ada asked me and Jayson to go to her fave brunch place with her I obviously said yes! She made a reservation for Mark McEwan's restaurant Fabbrica as it's her favourite brunch spot because of the lemon ricotta pancakes (which were seriously the best pancakes I've ever eaten)! The service was incredible, the atmosphere was perfect and the food oh man, it was delicious!!! We all got something different and my cousin loving the fact that we were all there ordered 3 extra meals for us to all share haha. Jayson took the photos and we realized afterwards a lot of them were blurry. Not to fret as a little bit of editing fixed them (I'll be sure to take lots of photos next time so that I can show you the inside as well). It was a super delish Sunday brunch and I can't wait to go back! What's your fave brunch place???fabbrica mark mcewan beef carpacio

Canadian National Exhibition

I’m a little sad that summer is already over, I’ve been holding onto the last bit of summer for the past two weeks i.e. refusing to switch out my summer clothes with my fall ones and attempting at wearing all my shorts and dresses that I didn’t get to wear in the past 14 days. The Canadian National Exhibit or CNE is always my go to way of finishing off the Summer season! It’s only open from middle of August for about two and a half weeks till September. I had hoped to go more than once but, due to time constraints and other busyness I only got the chance once.

My love for the cne is unreal, I mean how can you say no to the most amazing crazy foods?!?! They’ve dedicated a whole building just for all the amazing foods! This year I tried out the Fran’s Thanksgiving Waffle (which was do delicious), Daytona Wings, and a delicious waffle ice cream! I wanted to try more food but the thanksgiving waffle just filled me up way too much. We then went and made our rounds to the other buildings including; arts and crafts building and my favourite – the shopping building!!!!!! I actually didn’t purchase as much as I normally do, I had to talk myself out of getting a pair of Doc Martens that I totally didn’t need, but really wanted!

It was the hottest day when we went, we attempted at hanging inside so we wouldn’t melt away all day… didn’t work seeing as we had to leave around 6 since we just started feeling uncomfortably hot. I wore my watermelon dress from New Look as a tank and threw on my favourite ripped denim shorts from Forever21.

Night it Up

This weekend I had the chance to go to Night it Up! For those of you who may not know what that is, it's pretty much a big giant outdoor asian version of ribfest(ie. outdoor festival with games/entertainment/FOOD/etc.)!

I had never been before and wasn't really sure if I wanted to go when Jayson brought it up(we literally just got home from the cottage an hour before). Luckily my sister, her boyfriend and my niece both wanted to go and ended up dragging Jayson and I along. I'm so glad we ended up going; so many delicious things to eat, we had to walk around like 3 times before deciding on what things we'd get.

Being half Chinese, I've tried/or atleast seen a tooooooon of weird foods; chicken feet(refused to eat this), tripe, chinese mushrooms(ugh), pig blood nastiness(sorry if anyone likes any of these things, I just can't stomach it) and squid tentacles... which are actually surprisingly amaazingly delicious(one of my dimsum faves actually)! I've gotten pretty use to all the oddities while dining with my family. Yet, somehow I have never encountered "smelly tofu".... you have no idea how unprepared I was for that. I retched when that stench wafted towards my nose. Think of literally the nastiest smells(garbage, stanky feet, just gross things) all combined in one. I feel sick thinking about it yuck, somehow though it ended up being one of the most popular items this year.

I'd definitely go to Night it Up again although, next time around I'll try to go when it first opens up(tons of booths were closed since we went the last night).
What are your thoughts on Asian food?~*~Or better yet, what's the weirdest food you've tried??
